The Great Divide

I traveled through time but I am not sure if I’m on earth or somewhere else in the universe. If it is somewhere else, it feels strangely familiar.

I’m in a steep countryside. Symbols and caves are chiseled into the rocks. Mythical creatures are part of the mountains. This feels like an ancient place. Suns and moons and stars shine all at the same time and bring a cool warmth to this place.

I see two structures of civilization. Two towers, divided by a chasm that was carved out over millennia of dislike for the other. The fear has nurtured them and helped them grow. Almost like an umbilical chord that can’t be cut.

One tower has an enormous wall to protect its inhabitants and seems to be armed up to their teeth. The other has perfected the art of deception and has build labyrinths and secret passage ways to keep their people and culture safe.

But no matter what they do, the bridge between them remains. It gets stronger and stronger the more they fear and hate each other. And as long as there is a bridge, there is pass over. It takes curiosity and bravery to attempt to reach the other side but some always get through. And when they do, they bring a piece from the other side with them. Each time that happens, they become more and more similar - the law of entropy even works in this world.

The great divide, no matter how deep it gets, remains nothing but an illusion.
